FACULTY
Christopher Buoscio
is a Chicago artist working
in oil, drawing and printmaking. His work
depicts the urban environment and involves
the effect of memory, nightfall and
architecture on the viewer. His images are
influenced by “Film Noir” cinema as well as
traditional and expressionist works. He
received his MFA in Printmaking from Ohio
University in Athens and participates in
exhibitions, lectures and teaching
opportunities.
Barbara Farrell
is a self taught watercolor painter with
many years of experience. She has learned
her craft by experimenting, reading and with
the help of professional instructors. She
studied figure drawing with Bill Parks at
the American Academy of Art in Chicago. In
addition, she has taught classes for the
Washington Island Art Association, The
Clearing in Wisconsin, and the University of
Wisconsin Parkside Adult Education Program.
Janet Austin Henderson
is a local artist working in sculpture and
printmaking. She received her MA in fine
Arts from Dominican University in Florence,
Italy. She taught children and adult
classes with the Denver Art Museum.
Currently, she is creating public murals
with community involvement in Lake Forest.
Ann Hughes
has taught a variety of art courses at
Bowling Green State University and the
Toledo Museum of Art. She has been a winner
of grants and awards. Honored with numerous
residency fellowships, Hughes has enjoyed a
productive session at the Ragdale
Foundation.
Ben Jureviclus
As a virtually self-taught artist, I find
that my flourishes when I take the time to
observe – to really see – not just with my
eyes, but with all my senses. I have worked
in a number of different media, but in
pastel painting I have found a medium that
answers beautifully to what I have to say as
an artist. For the last six years I have
participated in local shows and festivals in
Northern Illinois and have been honored with
a number of awards for my work.
Helen LaCroix
received her BFA from Illinois Wesleyan
University and continued to study art with
Carl Schwartz, Abbott Pattison, Rudolph Pen
and Marge Allegretti. In recent years she
has been developing new images and ideas
with printmaking, etching, lithography and
monoprinting. Helen’s art has been
exhibited at galleries across the country
and she has participated in numerous juried
and invitational shows. Her work was
published in “Wild Places of Door County”.
Lezlie Lenz
likes to create paintings
that make people smile. Her whimsical mixed
media landscapes of flying ladies and angels
create the illusion of movement and sound.
She uses non-traditional watercolors to
paint her landscapes that have become the
home for her angels. Lezlie received her
Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design and
painting and has worked as a graphic
designer/illustrator for the past 20 years.
Her award-winning art is exhibited at
galleries and shown in Illinois and
Wisconsin.
Elizabeth Parrock
received her BA in Ceramics from Western
Michigan University and has completed the
Level 1 certification by the PMC Connection
for Precious Metal Clay. She combines her
experience with beads and silver to create
unique pieces of jewelry. Her work is
included in galleries in Illinois and
Michigan. She has been teaching bead
weaving and Precious Metal Clay techniques
for the past several years.
David Roth
is a professional graphic designer as well
as a commercial and fine art photographer.
He is a graduate of the American Academy of
Art in Chicago and the Leica School of
Photography. He has been a teacher and
lecturer for the Leica Camera, Cannon Camera
and has taught numerous workshops and
seminars. He was the first fine art
photographer to exhibit at Merrill Chase
Gallery and today his work is found in
private, national and international
collections.
Sallie Gilmore Roniss
attended the Layton School of Art in
Milwaukee and studied with Ed Paschke for
four years. Her work is influenced by her
extended travel around the world including
such exotic countries as New Guinea, Yemen,
Indonesia and Oman. She taught painting for
the Chicago Park District for fifteen years
and has conducted workshops at
universities. Her work has been exhibited
in many galleries and universities in the
Midwest. Her one woman show at the Chicago
Cultural Center welcomed the new
millennium. Sallie’s work appears in “Art
Scene Chicago 2000” a book by Ivy Sundell.
Cheryl
Sachs has a B.A.E, M.E. with 27 years
experience at various levels in education.
She found her true passion for painting in
Italy and has been teaching there the past
few summers.
Susan Slack
has been a working glass artist for 15
years. Starting as a stained glass artist,
she discovered the world of kiln formed
glass in 1996. She started her teaching
studio at that time and continues to teach a
variety of classes in the area. Her work
can be seen in retail locations throughout
Lake County and at local art shows. She is
the 2002 and 2003 Grand Prize Winner of the
Grayslake Festival of the Arts.
Lars-Birger Sponberg
has been painting since he was a boy in
Sweden. After coming to the U.S., he worked
as a lithographer and practiced his oil
painting at might. He studies with Kenneth
Shopen, Laura Van Pappelendam, Lois Ritman
and Carl Schwartz at the School of the Art
Institute in Chicago. Lars’s work has been
shown in solo exhibits and group shows
locally, in New York City and in Sweden.
His paintings can be found in many private
and corporate collections. Lars has
concentrated on landscape painting for the
last 15 years.
Loraine H. Stillman
is an artist in many media. She received
her Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education at
the University of Minnesota, furthered by
printmaking through the School of the Art
Institute of Chicago and graduate work in
art therapy. A painter and award-winning
printmaker, Loraine was President of the
North Shore Weavers Guild and has extensive
experience in weaving, fiber and beadwork.
She studied surface design with Joy Boutroup
of the Danish Institute of Design and
beadwork with leaders in the field.
Loraine’s art has been exhibited in
galleries, in corporate collections and
juried shows.
Doris Volpe
was educated at Lake Forest College and
later studied with Hubert Ropp, Abbott
Pattison and Ed Paschke. Her work has been
published in “Chicago Art Scene” by Ivy
Sandell and Dorie is a member of “Who’s Who
of American Women 2001”. She has exhibited
in more than 40 galleries and shows from
Chicago to New York to London. Her work is
enjoyed in private collections throughout
the U.S. and South America. Among her
one-person exhibitions is a retrospective
show at the Chicago Cultural Center.
Skip Wiese,
an illustrator for H&R Studio in Chicago
until 1980, has received more than 50 art
awards. He runs his own studio and gallery
in Waukegan in addition to teaching
workshops in pastels, watercolors and
monotype printing. In 1991, Skip attained
signature membership to the Midwest Pastel
Society, awarded to an artist for achieving
three years of juried competition. His
artwork is widely displayed in galleries and
has been purchased for private and corporate
collections worldwide. |
